FOUNDER, CIVITEST
CiviTest – Engineering and Inovation, is a company whose skills are focused for providing Services, Development and Research in Civil Construction domains. In order to carry out all these services with excellence, CiviTest has a laboratory where tests on quality control of traditional materials and construction systems are carried out, as well as research and development of innovative cementitious- and polymer-based materials and structural systems for new construction and rehabilitation. To carry out all these services, the company has a highly qualified team, majority with PhD degree. In addition, the equipment available at CiviTest allows these services to be performed with guarantee of excellence. Welcome to CiviTest!

CIVITEST STAFF
Joaquim Barros
Joaquim Barros, PhD in Civil Engineering, is the founder of CiviTest and its technical-scientific mentor since its establishment. He is the coordinator of the projects that require the application of research and development, as well as the development of scientific software. He is also co-founder of a complete and reliable software based on the Finite Element Method (MEF) for the material linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic analysis of structures with the possibility of simulating time dependent phenomena, developed entirely in Portugal.
Manuel Lopes Ferreira
Manuel Lopes Ferreira is a member of the Portuguese Chartered Accountants Association (nº. 13505), specialist in the area of accounting, tax, financial support, implementation of investment strategies and sustained growth. He has the primary responsibility for strategic resource planning in pursuing the main objectives of CiviTest.
Lúcio Lourenço
Lúcio Lourenço holds a PhD in Civil Engineering in the field of Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC). He has solid knowledge of FEM (he collaborated as an invited assistant professor at the University of Minho, on courses related to this subject), evaluation of FRC behaviour under high temperatures, design guides for FRC and cost estimates concerning FRC-based structural solutions and conventional materials. Lúcio Lourenço is CiviTest’s Director of Quality.
Inês Costa
Inês Costa holds a PhD in Civil Engineering. She has extensive experience in experimental and numerical research, with emphasis on the material nonlinear analysis of concrete structures strengthened with composite materials, and on the development of analytical formulations to support design guidelines. Currently, Inês Costa is the Technical Director of the CiviTest Laboratory.
José Sousa
José Sousa has over 20 years of experience as a factory employee, having held high-level positions in factories linked to various branches, such as furniture, graphics, surveillance and catering. José Sousa assists in the production and handling of materials and the maintenance of equipment in the CiviTest laboratory. He also collaborates in experimental tests and in the activities of structural inspection and diagnosis.
